ABOUT BARRINGTON NATURAL FARMS
Barrington Natural Farms is a diversified family farm located just 10 minutes from Barrington, Illinois, and 45 miles from downtown Chicago. We started with 8 acres and an organic garden, raspberry bushes and a small patch of strawberries. From there we began raising free-range hens for eggs, and then added pasture-raised chicken and grass-fed beef, pastured pork, and raw milk from our registered Guernsey cows. We are now leasing an additional 40 acres just a mile from our home farm - "the Ranch" - and 150 acres at the Brunner Family Forest Preserve where we have plenty of room for the beef, pigs, turkeys, and chickens to roam.
Barrington Natural Farms is owned and operated by Cliff McConville and Konda Dees, with lots of help from daughter Kaylee and our farm interns Anna, Kyle and Darrell.
In addition to all the chickens, pigs, turkeys, and cows, our farm is home to several barn cats plus house cats Panther, Pawz, and Sammi. Wild birds are fed from the four feeders in the backyard and white tail deer eat the leftover seed on the ground. Fox, deer, and coyote roam the back 40 along with a plethora of raccoons and possum.
BARRINGTON NATURAL FARMS IN THE NEWS
The Elgin Courier did a nice article about our farm when we were approved to lease 150 acres of land and the old dairy barn at the Brunner Family Forest Preserve. Read the full article below:
Quintessential Barrington magazine did a feature story on our farm in their July/August 2014 issue, including lots of photos of the animals, how we raise them, and why we do what we do. You can read the entire story beginning on page 140 of their digital edition:
Medill News Reporter Eva Voinigescu spent a cold Saturday morning in February with us on the farm. From her video and interviews she published two stories, one on the new proposed raw milk regulations in Illinois, another on the new FDA Voluntary Antibiotic Policy for farmers.
