FIND OUT HOW TASTY CLEAN, NATURAL PORK REALLY IS!
We also raise heritage hogs outdoors on pasture, where they can spend their days being hogs - browsing for grass, alfalfa, forbs, legumes, and rooting around our mineral-rich soil for tubers, grubs, insects, acorns, chestnuts, mushrooms, and enjoying lots of sunshine, exercise, and fresh air. Their pasture forage is supplemented with a certified organic hog feed mix as well as raw milk and organic raw apple cider vinegar. The organic grain includes non-GMO corn and soybeans from local farmers. We do not feed or inject them with any antibiotics, hormones, or dewormers, or any other type of pharmaceuticals.
Because they get the best natural pasture forage, organic feeds, plenty of exercise., minerals, and vegetation in their diets, these hogs are healthy, lean, and delicious. Their meat is firmer, juicier, and far superior to what is produced in the typical confinement facility where the pigs are jammed together indoors on a concrete slab and forced to eat large amounts of antibiotics and pharmaceuticals just to stay alive in those inhumane conditions. Come visit "the piggers" and see how happy they are! Click here to learn more about how we raise our pastured pork.
AVAILABLE IN WHOLE HOG, HALF HOG, OR 35 LB MIXED CUT FREEZER PACK
100% GRASS-FED BEEF
FEEL GOOD ABOUT EATING BEEF AGAIN!
We raise our grass-fed beef herd on a separate 40-acre leased parcel that was formerly part of a larger certified organic farm established in the 1950s. This perennial pasture has not been sprayed with herbicides or pesticides in over 50 years, and has a wide variety of grasses, herbs, forbs, and clovers to keep the herd healthy.
These calves are born on pasture right here in northern Illinois, and fed only their mother's milk, pasture forage, and grass/alfalfa hay in winter. We also provide them with an organic mineral supplement consisting primarily or Icelandic sea kelp mixed with sea salts as well as raw apple cider vinegar in their water. They are never fed any grains, corn, soybeans, antibiotics, chemical dewormers, or hormones. This beef is very lean and much healthier than unhealthy, grain-fed feedlot beef. LEARN WHAT CHICKEN IS REALLY SUPPOSED TO TASTE LIKE!
If you have never tasted a free-range pasture-raised chicken, you are in for a real treat. Our Freedom Ranger birds are on fresh pasture as soon as they can handle the outside temperatures, and they consume up to 30% of their total diet in fresh greens - grasses, clover, alfalfa, and other legumes, plus seeds and insects. This meat is leaner, tastier, and healthier than the industrial-confinement chicken you buy in the store. We move their shelters to fresh pasture every day, and they are able to free range on approximately one acre outside the shelters, protected by portable electric fencing. Starting in 2015 all of our broiler chickens are processed at a small, family-owned USDA inspected facility near Beloit, WI. Pickup at the farm available the day after your chicken is processed - fresh or frozen - you can't get any fresher than that!
All of our chickens are fed a certified organic, Non-GMO, SOY FREE feed mixture provided by Cashton Farm Supply, located in Cashton, Wisconsin. They purchase their organic corn, wheat, flax, and peas from local Illinois and Wisconsin farmers. Click here to learn more about how we raise our pastured broiler chickens.
PASTURE-RAISED HOLIDAY TURKEYS
TURKEYS FREE-RANGING OUTDOORS ON ROTATED PASTURES
Our old-fashioned Broad Breasted Bronze turkeys were the most popular Thanksgiving turkey from the 1930's through the late 1960's due to their excellent foraging ability outdoors and a much larger breast compared to the "wild turkeys" from the 1800's. Our Bronze turkeys consume up to 50% of their feed from our lush fall pasture, which includes a wide variety of greens - meadow fescue, timothy grass, red and ladino clover, alfalfa, and other legumes, plus seeds and insects. They are moved to fresh pasture every two days.
In addition to the pasture, our turkeys feed is supplemented with a certified organic, Non-GMO, SOY FREE feed mixture provided by Cashton Farm Supply, located in Cashton, Wisconsin. They purchase their organic corn, wheat, flax, and peas from local Illinois and Wisconsin farmers. None of our turkeys are fed or injected with any antibiotics or growth hormones.
This produces a leaner, tastier, and healthier meat than the industrial-confinement-antibiotic filled turkey you buy in the store.
AVAILABLE FROZEN - PICKUP FROM THE FARM BY APPOINTMENT.
FREE RANGE EGGS FROM PASTURE RAISED HENS
THESE ARE THE BEST EGGS YOU WILL EVER EAT!
The "girls" are free to range on our lush pasture all day and their enclosed portable shelter is moved every few days so there is always a fresh supply of grass and forage. Approximately 50% of their food intake is fresh grasses, clover, alfalfa, leftover garden vegetables and fruits, along with the occasional worm, cricket, or other tasty bugs. The remainder of their diet is a locally produced certified organic, non-soy feed mixture. Click this link to learn more about how we raise our laying hens.
Eggs are $7 per dozen for large & $8 per dozen for jumbo eggs. All eggs are sold to customers already picking up other product. We are unable to sell a dozen eggs here or there as you would buy in a store. Please refer to our FAQ page for instructions on eggs if you have any questions.
RAW MILK FROM GRASS-FED GUERNSEYS
ENJOY THE MANY HEALTH BENEFITS OF RAW MILK
Raw milk is provided from our grass-fed Guernsey cows. The Guernsey is renowned for their rich, golden-colored milk which is high in protein (A2) and butterfat, which makes for excellent drinking and great for making butter, ice cream, yogurt, kefir, and many cheeses.
Our small herd of registered Guernsey cows eat primarily pasture forages which they have accesss to 24 hours a day, supplemented with a small amount of organic dairy ration at milking time to provide them with all the vitamins, minerals, and energy they need to produce our nutritious milk. We test each cow's milk regularly monthly through a national food laboratory to ensure there are low levels of bacteria in their milk. Click here to learn more about our farming practices for raw milk.
PLEASE NOTE, EFFECTIVE JANUARY 1, 2016 ALL OF OUR RAW MILK IS DISTRIBUTED THROUGH A HERDSHARE ARRANGEMENT.

In 2016 we will be growing all of our vegetables, herbs, and fruits at the new farm located inside the Brunner Family Forest Preserve. Experienced CSA grower Bob Vierow will be managing the vegetable CSA operation to provide our customers with an expansive selection of the freshest, local, organically-raised vegetables.
We will be offering a small CSA (Community Supported Agriculture) program with a limit of 50 full shares for 2016. All CSA share members may pickup their boxes on Thursday afternoons or later at our farm, we will not have any delivery options available. During peak growing season we may have some produce left over after filling the CSA share boxes, those items will be sold at our farmstore once it gets open, but we currently have no extra vegetables available. Each box will include 7-10 varieties of vegetables fresh and in-season. Customers may also select a half share, they will receive a box of produce every other week. The full share is a 20 week season beginning in mid-June and running through late October, the half share is a pickup every other week.
